Your tasks

  • Leads and manages a team of Medical Affairs professionals directly and indirectly including the line manager for the field-based Medical Scientists  team
  • Sets clear performance expectations that are aligned with company and department goals; monitors progress and delivers fair and effective performance reviews
  • Provides clear strategic guidance for the development and execution of the Therapeutic Area strategy, the medical Plans of Action  and cross-functional projects
  • Plans and monitors the departmental budget
  • Participates in the exchange with the medical community and maintains a thought leaders network
  • Contributes to the development of the Market Access strategy in coordination with Market Access, Regulatory Affairs, Country Medical Director, and General Manager; delivers the medical part of the plan
  • Contributes to the development of European and global medical Plans of Actions
  • Collaborates with colleagues in other functional areas, e.g. Clinical Research, Sales and Marketing, Market Access, PVE
  • Stays up to date with Medical Affairs management approaches in the industry and applies them to the Gilead team where appropriate
  • Contributes to the cross-functional Therapeutic Area leadership and provides strategic input into the Therapeutic Area strategy and Business Plans of Action
  • Provides local medical expert input into global product development
  • Leads and/or contributes to organisational projects at the national, international, and departmental level

Your qualifications

  • Bachelors in Business, Economics, Finance or related field plus relevant experience in sales/marketing analysis, SFE, sales force reporting and statistical analysis in the pharmaceutical or biotech industry.
  • Masters/MBA a plus
  • Experience in a pharmaceutical environment, with a solid understanding of principles relating to area of specialization.
  • Experience in pharmaceutical sales force effectiveness
  • Demonstrate in-depth knowledge of relevant software systems and platforms
  • Ability to recognize and interpret business issues/opportunities and recommend solutions through analysis.
  • Ability to assume full responsibility for accuracy, reliability, and timeliness of deliverables completed
  • Ability to effectively communicate technical and qualitative information to non-technical executives through interpersonal, verbal, and written channels.
  • Ability to manage projects and multi-task in a deadline-intensive environment.
